STRUCTURE OF THE GATEWAY

The gateway is implemented in an Omnet PDP11 which has a PDP11-Cernet link in addition to the standard Omnet datalink hardware. It is composed of two conjoint halves which intercept each packet addressed to the remote network and transform it into the correct format before forwarding it to its destination. End-to-end communication is performed under the control of the Cernet transport manager which has been exported to all the Omnet machines connected in this way.
